I got busy.

I haven’t posted in over two weeks. I’ve been busy. Actually, that’s an understatement, I’ve been killing myself slowly with the thrills of academic life. Papers here, readings there, weekend dispatching, tutoring everywhere. My life has been one large epic chain of events and appointments after another. Likewise, my roommate is convinced that it’s the middle of the semester the way both of our schedules are behaving.

Regardless, I am coming along smoothly. I’ve started tutoring for a Foundations class here on campus, in addition to working in our writing center. I haven’t had any clients just yet, but I’m waiting for those English Composition classes to assign the first paper of the term. It should be interested as it always is.

In the past two weeks, I began serving as a teacher’s assistant in an English class at the local high school. They were reading 1984 and I was excited because I’ve never actually read that book.  Today, the year 1984 seems really old to me. My parents had been married two years that year and I was nothing more than a musing in the minds of my parents. I also don’t think they were speaking doublespeak, and I eventually came onto the scene on a Sunday morning six years later. Anyway, 1984 has been exciting me for the past week and I hope I’m there on the day the class finishes the novel. In the same line of thought, I’m teaching a class of middle schoolers next week how not to plagarize. I like school, and while they may tune me out, I’ll love every minutes of ranting against stealing the ides of others and passing them off as their own.

Hopefully this next week I will be able to catch my breath. I should try sleeping or something like that, but we’ll see how that goes.

PS – Last week, I hit my 40lb weight loss mark. I’m thrilled.
